    is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions
for lots of people. There's camping available near Watauga River. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Boone, as you can see on the road map further down. No need to look hard for hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Watauga River while nighttime lows are ordinarily in the 50's. Throughout the wintertime highs are usually in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Watauga River.

place close to Watauga River is Young Hollow, and if you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Boone. All the water falling down from the sky makes Watauga River a wet spot; through the month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is December.
