If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This section of Watauga River is 12 miles long and has been rated
as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The North Carolina Route 105 Bridge to US Route 321 Bridge stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. No
need to look hard for hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. The wonderful North Carolina scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Watauga River beats anything.
Briefly about the general area: It's always magnificent to stop by Dutch Creek Falls; Hayes Bluff is an out of the ordinary thing to observe if you're here. High temperatures at Watauga River all through the long summer days are in the 70's. Throughout the
moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Watauga River. Near Watauga River you stumble on Lou Hollow which is a wonderful location to take a look at. Watauga River frequently gets a good deal of rainfall; May is when you get the most rain here while December is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
