This section of Wilson Creek in North Carolina is 5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. If you're coming from Boone it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The average North Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people.
Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Route 1328 Bridge to National Forest sign stretch is just one of many.
The beautiful scenery of Caldwell County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. When you're paddling down a Blue Ridge Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip.

a quite wet location; all through the month of May you get the most rain around here, and December meanwhile is the driest month. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Yancey Ridge Trail. For the duration of the long summer days at Wilson Creek temperatures are mostly in
the 70's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 40's with temperatures at Wilson Creek dipping down into the 10's through winter nights.
