If you're coming from Boone it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. Whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no
problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. When you're paddling down a Blue Ridge Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The beautiful scenery of Caldwell County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well.

the general area: High temperatures at Wilson Creek during the days of summer are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Wilson Creek.
