Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The scenic beauty of Caldwell County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Boone, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Wilson Creek is 1.9 miles long and is a class III-IV+(V) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing
to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the National Forest sign to parking area above Brown MtNorth Beach stretch is just one of them. This is a pretty
short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The campgrounds here at Wilson Creek are pretty good. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near.
