The put-in location is a short drive from Boone, as you can see on the road map further down. The scenic beauty of Caldwell County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. The Below Brown Mountain Beach to Johns River section of Wilson Creek in Caldwell County is 4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II(III) section. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Whether you're whitewater rafting
or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Below Brown Mountain Beach to Johns River section is just one of them. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay
the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in North Carolina are easier than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere.
