The natural beauty of North Carolina and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a     short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This section of Yadkin River in Wilkes County is 15 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There's camping available near Yadkin River. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great. There are no other stretches to paddle along Yadkin River than the Route 1178 below West Kerr Scott Dam to Route 2327 stretch. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Briefly about the general area: Summertime at Yadkin River   arrives with high temperatures in the 80's while night lows are mostly in the 60's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Yadkin River. The high level of rain makes Yadkin River a rather wet location; June is the month that gets the most rain, and November is when it's the driest.
