The starting point is not too far from Mount Airy, as you can see on the road map further down. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in North Carolina are often more forgiving than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The wonderful Yadkin County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Yadkin River will make you feel great. The US Route 21 to North     Carolina Route 67 stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so better bring your camping gear along. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Yadkin River. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 50's. For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Yadkin River.
