The wonderful Ohio scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The Stamhoke-Kelloggsville to Ashtabula section is the only paddling section     along Ashtabula. This section of Ashtabula in Ohio is 4.3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The put-in location is a short drive from Ashtabula, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: Ashtabula is a good spot of common rain; during June this area sees the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. High temperatures at Ashtabula all through the warm days of summer are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's.
