  The wonderful Ohio scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Backbone Creek make the trip here worthwhile. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. There's camping available near Backbone Creek. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
    This stretch of Backbone Creek in Ohio is 1.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling
spots. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The Elmwood Road to East Fork of Little Miami River stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. If you're coming from Cincinnati-Middletown it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost.

Briefly about the general area:
 
Here at Backbone Creek there are plenty of people from Batavia, and Backbone Creek is right by the Beechtree Trail. East Fork State Park is a tremendous place to visit on a wonderful day, and hiking along the Lakeview Trail is perfect fun. Coming to this river is always a good idea. While staying at Backbone Creek you could always explore Possum Hollow, and Stonelick State Park is both great and charming. For the period of the warm months highs here at Backbone Creek reach the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Backbone Creek plunge into the 10's.
