The sewage treatment plant just up river of the put-in location can make paddling after a big rain a little smelly. The park doesn't recommend any paddling on the river, and if you are going you should check their website for construction on the bridges along the way. Says Dave
The wonderful Summit County scenery and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Ohio is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The put-in location
is a short drive from Akron, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Ira Road to Route 303 section is just one of them.
