  The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Ashtabula, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming
    from far and near. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The wonderful Ashtabula County scenery and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. No matter if
you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. This section of Grand River in Ohio is 8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. This is the only paddling stretch along Grand River.

the 80's; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. During the winter the highs are generally in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Grand River.
