If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Ohio you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The wonderful Ohio scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. The starting location is a short drive from Cincinnati-Middletown, as you can see on the road map further down. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have     to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other spots. The 50 Hole section is the only paddling section along Great Miami River. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: A typical amount of precipitation falls here at Great Miami River; May is when you get the most rain here, and January meanwhile is the driest month. At Great Miami River all through the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 30's, and after the sun is down throughout   the winter temperatures at Great Miami River plunge into the 10's. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Great Miami River; Blue Jacket Trail is a delightful local trail. There's good hiking along the Little Turtle Trail; you can always enjoy a lazy day on the beach at Long Island Beach.
