The 1/4 mile above Rock Mill Road to Mt Zion Road stretch of Hocking River is 0.75 miles long and is a class II-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Fairfield County and the water flowing gracefully down Hocking River attract people from near and far. Hocking River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the 1/4 mile above Rock Mill Road to Mt Zion Road section is the     only one. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The average Ohio whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. This stretch is very short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
