The Newark to Rock Haven Park section of Licking River in Licking County is 8.6 miles long and is a class I section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Licking County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. There are many good hotels to choose from, and if you     make reservations in advance you're all set. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good places for that around here.
