Says timbo The Clifton Gorge stretch of Little Miami River is 1.3 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Ohio and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Springfield, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The     campgrounds here at Little Miami River are pretty good. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This is a very short section so no need to bring snacks. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling places. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. This is the only paddling section along Little Miami River. Briefly about the general area: What would a site like Little Miami River be without attention-grabbing   nearby traits like Steamboat Rock, and since you're here, you might as well stop at Clifton Gorge. The yearly precipitation here at Little Miami River is about average; July is the wettest month with most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. This river is so great. The South Gorge Trail is a magnificent hiking trail right next door to Little Miami River; close by you hit upon the Arboretum Trail which is a splendid hiking trail. For the duration of the warm days of summer at Little Miami River highs are generally in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. Highs during the wintertime are frequently in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Little Miami River are in the 10's.
