  The natural beauty of Ohio and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The put-in location is a short drive from Ashtabula, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This section of Paine Creek in Lake County is 3 miles long and is a class II-III(V) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This is a bit of a short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. Whitewater rafting and kayaking
    spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is the only
paddling stretch along Paine Creek. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came.

Briefly about the general area:
During the months of summer highs here at Paine Creek get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are generally in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Paine Creek are in the 10's. If you're here at Paine Creek, do take a spree to Indian Point.
