Woodville to Elmore section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I-II 4 miles
This section of Portage River is 4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. If you're coming from Fremont it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nature scenery of Ohio and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. There aren’t any hotels
right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is the only paddling section along Portage River. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch
is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Ohio tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more.
