The wonderful Sandusky County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Portage River     attract people from near and far. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The Woodville to Elmore section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section of Portage River in Ohio is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. Briefly about the general       area: Portage River is in close proximity to Maumee Bay State Park which is a striking place, and this is a popular place for people from Woodville. When you're here at Portage River it's always fun to stop by Crane   Creek State Park, and you have to unquestionably check out wonderful Erie Beach since you're here. This is a really good river. If you want to hit the beach, Lamb Beach is around here. From a precipitation point of view Portage River is a rather common site. June is the wettest month with most rain while January is regularly the driest month. At Portage River during the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's while night lows are usually in the 60's.
