If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. | is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section of Portage River in Ohio is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other rivers for that.

Creek State Park, and you have to unquestionably check out wonderful Erie Beach since you're here. This is a really good river. If you want to hit the beach, Lamb Beach is around here. From a precipitation point of view Portage River is a rather common site. June is the wettest month with most rain while January is regularly the driest month. At Portage River during the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's while night lows are usually in the 60's.
