If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section of Vermilion     River in Huron County is 9 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I(II) section of whitewater. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The scenic beauty of Ohio and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other spots for that. Briefly about the general area: Vermilion River gets a typical amount of annual precipitation; all through June this area sees the most rain; February is when it's the driest. Summertime at Vermilion River comes with high temperatures in the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into   the 60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's while Vermilion River overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the 10's.
