Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Ohio tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. No shortage of good hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. This is a pretty decent length section,     good for a one day paddling trip. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The nature scenery of Ohio and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. The put-in is not too far from Sandusky, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Briefly about the general area: The amount of rain that falls at Vermilion River is close to the national average; June is when you get the most rain here, and February meanwhile is the driest month. For the period of the long summer days at Vermilion River highs are mostly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. Through the winter highs are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Vermilion River are in the 10's.
