Ohio whitewater - Yellow Creek, Summit County Summit county, Ghent to Cuyahoga River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II(III)     4.3 miles   the week of july 3 has been a nasty one for yellow creek. a developer in richfield has clear cut into zoned conservation district. some of this district was even under the control of the western reserve conservation district and they were never informed. this land is within 100 feet of the northern most feeder creek to yellow creek. any help we could receive with this matter would be appreciated. The put-in location is a reasonable drive     from Akron, as you can see on the road map further down. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. No shortage of good hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This section of Yellow Creek is 4.3 miles long and it is classified as a class II(III) section by American Whitewater. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. The average Ohio whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. There are no other stretches to paddle along Yellow Creek than the Ghent to Cuyahoga River stretch. Briefly about the general area:   Through the summertime months at Yellow Creek temperatures are mostly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. All through the wintertime highs are generally in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Yellow Creek.
