CLASS II(III) 4.3 miles
the week of july 3 has been a nasty one for yellow creek. a developer in richfield has clear cut into zoned conservation district. some of this district was even under the control of the western reserve conservation district and they were never informed. this land is within 100 feet of the northern most feeder creek to yellow creek. any help we could receive with this matter would be appreciated. The nature scenery of Ohio and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. The put-in location
is a short drive from Akron, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The Ghent to Cuyahoga River section of Yellow Creek in Summit County is 4.3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II(III) section. Since you're on this
site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Yellow Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Ghent to Cuyahoga River stretch is the only one. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while
will make you glad you came. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
