Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The Tulsa Wave section is the only paddling section along Arkansas River. This is an extremely short section so no need to bring snacks. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. The put-in location is a short drive from Tulsa, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There are some good hotels near |
the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The wonderful Oklahoma scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile.

A common amount of rain falls here at Arkansas River; of
| all the months in a year September is the one with the most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. At Arkansas River throughout the days of summer highs are in the 90's, and the overnight is slightly colder of course, regularly in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Arkansas River.
