The Highway 259 south of Cucumber Crk to Highway 259 Close to Smithville stretch of Big Eagle Creek - Eagle Fork in Le Flore/ McCurtain County is 12.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. The wonderful Le Flore/ McCurtain County scenery and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is the only paddling section along Big Eagle Creek - Eagle Fork. are easier than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The campgrounds here at Big Eagle Creek - Eagle Fork are pretty good. The beautiful Ouachita Mountains scenery is an added bonus. You can enjoy
this section more if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
