CLASS II-III 11 miles
This stretch of Buffalo Creek in McCurtain County is 11 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The average Oklahoma whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away
from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The wild scenery of the Ouachita Mountains is great. The scenic beauty of McCurtain County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to
come here to paddle. The Weyerhauser Road 28000 to Broken Bow Lake stretch is the only paddling stretch along Buffalo Creek. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camp stove.
