If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The Playspot at Echota stretch of Illinois River in Cherokee County is 0 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Cherokee County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is an extremely short stretch so
it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Tahlequah, as you can see on the road map further down.
No need to look hard for hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whitewater paddling here in the Ozarks is a great experience. The Playspot at Echota stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers.

A good deal of precipitation falls at Illinois River; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors enjoyable things the Ozarks has to offer. At Illinois River during the warmest
time of the year highs are in the 90's with nighttime lows in the 70's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 40's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Illinois River descend into the 20's.
