CLASS II 40 miles
This section of Little River is 40 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. The natural beauty of Leflore/ Pushmataha County and the water flowing gracefully down Little River make the trip here worthwhile. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The beauty of the Ouachita Mountains is a great plus for this river. Some people prefer
whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. There's camping available near Little River. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. The rivers for whitewater
rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. Little River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Honobia to Cloudy Road section is the only one.
Briefly about the general area: Have a great hiking adventure along the Silver Suck Trail; going for a hike along the Flashman Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. Through the summertime months highs here at Little River reach the 80's while night lows are regularly
in the 60's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Little River temperatures drop to the 20's. Little River regularly gets lots of rainfall; May is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months is January. Be careful coming to the Ouachita Mountains, you might not ever wanna go home again.
