This section of Outlaw Creek in Oklahoma is 1.25 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The natural beauty of McCurtain County and the water flowing gracefully down Outlaw Creek will make you feel great. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This is a very short section so you'll have
to walk back to the start over and over. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater paddling here in the Ouachita Mountains is a great experience.
Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. There are no other sections to paddle along Outlaw Creek than the Broken Bow spillway to Mountain Fork River section. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
Briefly about the general area: Outlaw Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall; most of the rain falls during May while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Beavers Bend is an interesting spot to stop at while at Outlaw Creek, and hiking along the Beaver Lodge
Nature Trail is glorious fun. Summertime brings highs in the 90's to Outlaw Creek. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. All through the winter highs are mostly in the 50's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Outlaw Creek temperatures fall to the 30's. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Ouachita Mountains. The Rockpile Mountain towers over Outlaw Creek.
