The wonderful Murray/ Carter County scenery and the playfulness of the water beats anything. The put-in location is a short drive from Ardmore, as you can see on the road map further down. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Dougherty to Gene Autry section is the only paddling section along Washita River.     Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Oklahoma tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other spots for that. The river winds through the Arbuckle Mountains and you get great scenery. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. Briefly about the general area: It's always wonderful to have a look at Cedar Falls. Summertime highs at Washita River frequently tend to be in the 90's while night lows are mostly in the 70's.
