CLASS I-II 32 miles

The average Oregon whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The natural beauty of Benton/Lincoln County and the water flowing gracefully down Alsea River will make you feel great. The starting point is not too far from Corvallis, as you can see on the road map further down. A stretch of this length does require some |
preparations, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. The campgrounds here at Alsea River are pretty good. The beautiful Coast Ranges scenery is an added bonus. A good workout and just being out on
| the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Mill Creek | |
|
Park to Tidewater stretch is just one of them. This stretch of Alsea River is 32 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater.
Briefly about the general area: Everybody loves Ellmaker
State Park; Fall Creek Falls is always fun to check out. So much entertaining stuff to do here in the Coast Ranges, too good to be true. You'll meet a lot of people from Tidewater here, and Alsea River is in close proximity
to Carns Canyon which is certainly worth visiting. This river is so perfect. There's splendid hiking along the Horse Creek Trail.
