  This section of Alsea River - North Fork in Benton County is 5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I section. The wonderful Oregon scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. The starting point is not too far from Corvallis, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but
    if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this
state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. When you're paddling down a Coast Ranges river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip.
