The Butte Falls to Netherlands Road stretch of Big Butte Creek in Oregon is 9.5 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Oregon and the water flowing gracefully down Big Butte Creek will make you feel great. The put-in location is a short drive from Medford, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The beauty of the Southern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around
here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. Big Butte Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Butte Falls to Netherlands Road section is the only one. Whitewater
rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon are harder than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near.
