The put-in is not too far from Medford, as you can see on the road map further down. The nature scenery of Jackson County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. This is the only paddling stretch along Big Butte Creek. The wild scenery of the Southern Cascade Range is great. This section of Big Butte Creek in Jackson County is 9.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. This section is long enough
to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you
come because it is a very popular destination. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Oregon you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The campgrounds here at Big Butte Creek are pretty good.
