The beautiful scenery of Oregon and the water flowing gracefully down Big Butte Creek will make you feel great. The put-in location is a short drive from Medford, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The beauty of the Southern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around     here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. Big Butte Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Butte Falls to Netherlands Road section is the only one. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon are harder than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. Briefly about the general area: Big Butte Creek is pretty dehydrated typically; through December this area sees the most rain, and July meanwhile   is the driest month. High temperatures at Big Butte Creek during the warm days of summer are in the 90's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Highs throughout the wintertime are commonly in the 40's, and all through the dark hours in the winter at Big Butte Creek temperatures sink to the 30's.
