The Cleator Bend Campground to Detroit Lake stretch of Breitenbush River in Marion County is 8.2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV section. Breitenbush River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Cleator Bend Campground to Detroit Lake stretch is the only one. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. Whitewater paddling here in the Central
Cascade Range is a great experience. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The average Oregon whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be
harder to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip.
