The Cleator Bend Campground to Detroit Lake stretch of Breitenbush River in Marion County is 8.2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV section. Breitenbush River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Cleator Bend Campground to Detroit Lake stretch is the only one. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. Whitewater paddling here in the Central     Cascade Range is a great experience. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The average Oregon whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. At Breitenbush River during the months of summer highs are in the 70's, and during the night it   cools down to the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 40's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Breitenbush River. Going for a hike along the Fox Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Humbug Ridge Trail. Breitenbush River is a relatively wet place typically with a large amount of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is mostly December, that's the one that rains the most, and July is when it's the driest.
