The wonderful Clackamas County scenery and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. This stretch of Bull Run in Clackamas County is 2.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater
as a class III section. The Bull Run Road to Sandy River section is the only paddling section along Bull Run. There are many good hotels to choose from, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater
rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. The beauty of the Central Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. This is a bit of a short stretch so no need to bring snacks.
Briefly about the general area: Bull Run gets a lot of water; throughout the month of December you get the most rain around here; July on the other hand is the driest. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Geary Spring. For the period of the months of summer at Bull Run highs are ordinarily in the 80's. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Bull Run are in the 30's.
