The wonderful Oregon scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. If you're coming from Albany-Lebanon it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd     better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The 22 miles above Holley to 13 Mile Bridge stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. The beauty of the Central Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Oregon is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Calapooia River while nighttime lows are ordinarily in the 50's. Through the winter highs are usually in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Calapooia River temperatures sink to the 30's.
