If you're coming from Albany-Lebanon it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Concrete Bridge above Holley to McKercher Park section is just one of many. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling   spots. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The average Oregon whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Briefly about the general area: Calapooia River gets a common amount of rain; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain while July is usually the driest month. Summertime highs at Calapooia River frequently tend to be in the 80's while overnight lows are typically in the 50's.
