CLASS II 10 miles
This section of Calapooia River in Linn County is 10 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Linn County and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The starting location
is a reasonable drive from Albany-Lebanon, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end
up sleeping in your car. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. When you're paddling down a Central Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places.
