Oregon whitewater - Calapooia River, Central Cascade Range, Linn County
Linn
county,
Concrete Bridge above Holley to McKercher Park section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II 10 miles
Be mindful that the old pilings from the dam that was removed still exist and I believe present a hazard that must be scouted. If you run it before June there is likely no problem at all. Enjoy. The dam site is two miles upriver from Brownsville out Kirk Avenue and Northern Drive. I would hate to see your watercraft buggered up. It is a lovely river. Says Paul
The Concrete Bridge above Holley to McKercher Park stretch of Calapooia River in Linn County is 10 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater.
The natural beauty of Linn County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you're coming from Albany-Lebanon it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road
map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Concrete Bridge above Holley to McKercher Park section is just one of many. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling
spots. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The average Oregon whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. There
aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
