  The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The nature scenery of Oregon and the water flowing gracefully down Calapooia River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The starting point is not too far from Albany-Lebanon, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the McKercher Park to Brownsville stretch is just one of them.
    This section of Calapooia River in Linn County is 7 miles long and has been rated as a class I section by American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this
is an area with plenty of places for that. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip.

An average amount of precipitation falls at Calapooia River; the month with most of the rain is December while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. At Calapooia River through the long summer days highs are in the 80's, and the night
 
is somewhat chillier of course, usually in the 50's. Highs during the winter are ordinarily in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Calapooia River fall into the 30's.
