The McKercher Park to Brownsville stretch of Calapooia River in Oregon is 7 miles long and has been rated as a class I section by American Whitewater. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here     are less forgiving. There's camping available near Calapooia River. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. The scenic beauty of Linn County and the water flowing gracefully down Calapooia River have people coming here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. Throughout the warm months highs here at Calapooia   River get into the 80's with overnight lows in the 50's.
