This stretch of Champion Creek in Lane County is 1.1 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V section. The scenic beauty of Lane County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This section is very short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There are no other sections to paddle along Champion Creek than the Gorge 1 mile above Brice Creek to Brice Creek section. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. No matter if
you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations
you might end up sleeping in your car. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy.
Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Champion Creek a wet location; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is July. So many exciting things in the Central Cascade Range, just phenomenal. The
beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Hotel Spring; if you're here at Champion Creek, checking out Kitten Rock is a must. This is such a great river. Good hiking is available along the Mayflower Trail. Smith Falls is an inspiring place to explore during your stay; you
can go for a hike on the Steamboat Trail. Throughout the summertime at Champion Creek temperatures are mostly in the 70's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 40's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 40's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Champion Creek.
