The wonderful Lane County scenery and the playfulness of the water beats anything. The average Oregon whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. This is a very short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. The beauty of the Central Cascade Range     is a great plus for this river. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There's camping available near Champion Creek. This is the only paddling stretch along Champion Creek. Briefly about the general area: Summertime at Champion Creek comes with high temperatures in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Champion Creek. A spree to Smith Falls   will fill your spirit with great feelings; Champion Creek is right by the Steamboat Trail. This river is so wonderful. What would a site like Champion Creek be without exciting close by highlights like Kitten Rock. Much rain falls at Champion Creek; November is when you get the most rain here; July on the other hand is the driest. This place, the Central Cascade Range, has so much outdoors cool things. Put some time aside to spend at Hotel Spring while you're here at Champion Creek; hiking along the Mayflower Trail is magnificent fun.
