The natural beauty of Curry County and the water flowing gracefully down Chetco River will make you feel great. This stretch of Chetco River in Oregon is 8.7 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV(V) section by American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Oregon you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Chetco River doesn't have a |
lot of paddling stretches, the Gorge stretch is the only one. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
Briefly about the general area: Chetco River gets a good deal of water;
| the month with most of the rain is September, and the driest month is May. During the warmest time of the year at Chetco River temperatures are generally in the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 70's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 80's with temperatures at Chetco River dipping down into the 70's all through winter nights.
