The nature scenery of Oregon and the water flowing gracefully down Chetco River will make you feel great. Whitewater paddling here in the Central Cascade Range is a great experience. This stretch of Chetco River is 8.7 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV(V) section by American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. |

This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Oregon is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This is the only paddling
| stretch along Chetco River. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
Briefly about the general area: During the warm days of summer at Chetco River highs are usually in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 40's. Highs all through the winter are mostly in the 40's, and night lows during the wintertime for Chetco River tend to be in the 30's. Chetco River gets a good deal of water; the month with most of the rain is November, and July meanwhile is the driest month.
