If you're coming from Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Oregon is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out
with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The wonderful Clackamas County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Clackamas River have people coming here. When you're paddling down a Central Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along
the way too. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. The McIver Park to Mouth section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. This section of Clackamas River in Clackamas County is 21.8 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater.
Briefly about the general area: Throughout the warm days of summer, highs frequently
are in the 70's at Clackamas River. Summer overnight lows dip down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's while Clackamas River night low temperatures all through the wintertime are in the 30's. From a rainfall point of view Clackamas River is a quite typical site; the wettest month of the year is frequently December, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is July.
