Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon are harder than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The scenic beauty of Marion County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. The Mile 5.5 bridge to Two Rivers Picnic Area stretch of Collawash River is 5.5 miles long and is a class IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in
this river system, there are a few others too. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out
with mother nature will make you glad you came. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The beauty of the Central Cascade Range is a great plus for this river.
Briefly about the general area: Just can't get enough of the Central Cascade Range. A lot of rainfall falls at Collawash River; through the month of December you get the most rain around here, and July meanwhile is the driest month. There's good hiking along the Bagby Trail, and
hiking is a popular thing to do around Collawash River; Bull of the Woods Trail is a brilliant local trail. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Collawash River. During the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 40's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Collawash River sink into the 30's.
