This stretch of Collawash River in Oregon is 5.5 miles long and has been rated as a class IV section by American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. The natural beauty of Oregon and the water flowing gracefully down Collawash River have people coming here. The Central Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting
some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are
not very forgiving. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The campgrounds here at Collawash River are pretty good.
Briefly about the general area: Collawash River is a wet place that gets a great deal of rainfall; December is when you get the most rain here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Going for a hike on the Bagby Trail is always a delightful adventure, and there are
magnificent places to discover along the Bull of the Woods Trail. Summertime highs at Collawash River typically tend to be in the 70's while night lows are generally in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's; after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Collawash River fall into the 30's.
