The starting location is a short drive from Coos Bay, as you can see on the road map further down. The scenic beauty of Oregon and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Myrtle Grove Camp Ground to Milepost 3 section of Coquille River - South Fork is 5.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V section. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon.
Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Oregon is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The Myrtle Grove Camp Ground to Milepost
3 stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good places for that around here. Whitewater paddling here in the Coast Ranges is a great experience.
