The natural beauty of Deschutes County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. This stretch of Deschutes River is 18 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-V section. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and     some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. Lodging is available near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: All through the summertime, highs usually are in the 80's at Deschutes River; the overnight is rather chillier of course, ordinarily in the 40's. For the period   of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Deschutes River are in the 10's. Deschutes River gets very little rain; December is the month that gets the most snow; July is the month with the least moisture.
