The starting location is a reasonable drive from Bend, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch of Deschutes River in Deschutes County is 18 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-V section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so     why not pack your camp stove too. There are many good hotels to choose from, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whitewater paddling here in the Central Cascade Range is a great experience. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Oregon are often more challenging than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Deschutes River through the warm months are in the 80's, and the nighttime is slightly cooler of course, regularly   in the 40's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Deschutes River are in the 10's.
