The scenic beauty of Oregon and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. The Big River Campground to Benham Falls stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. There are nice comfortable hotels here, and if you make reservations in advance you're     all set. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. There's camping available near Deschutes River. The put-in location is a short drive from Bend, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch of Deschutes River is 18 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-V section. The beautiful Central Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. Briefly about the general area: Deschutes River is pretty dried up commonly; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow, and July on the other hand is the driest. The warmest time of the year at Deschutes River arrives with high   temperatures in the 80's while overnight lows are frequently in the 40's. Highs through the winter are generally in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Deschutes River fall into the 10's.
