The beautiful scenery of Oregon and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. The starting location is a short drive from Bend, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. No need to look hard for hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A good workout     and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Lava Island is something you shouldn't miss since you're here at Deschutes River, and Lava Island Falls is an inspiring place to pop by during your stay. Here at Deschutes River you'll   probably meet some people from Bend, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Upper Falls Deschutes River. At Deschutes River you don’t see much rain; December is when you get the most snow here; the driest of the months is July. During the warm days of summer, highs generally are in the 80's at Deschutes River; the nighttime is slightly chillier of course, regularly in the 40's. Highs during the winter are frequently in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Deschutes River.
