The beautiful scenery of Deschutes County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. This section of Deschutes River in Deschutes County is 5.2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV section. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality     time in nature have a lot of people coming here. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. No need to look hard for hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Bend to Tumalo State Park stretch is just one of many. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Oregon you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The beauty of the Central Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Deschutes River generally tend to be in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 40's. Through the winter highs are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Deschutes   River are in the 10's. It is very dried up here at Deschutes River frequently; the month with most of the snow is December; the driest of the months is July. You're sure to encounter some wonderful folks from Bend here.
