The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Bend, as you can see on the road map further down. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers     here more demanding, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The natural beauty of Oregon and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. There are many good hotels to choose from, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beauty of the Central Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The Bend to Tumalo State Park section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. Briefly about the general area: At Deschutes River you don’t see much precipitation; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow, and July on the other hand is the driest. Summer brings highs in the 80's to   Deschutes River. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and overnight lows during the wintertime for Deschutes River tend to be in the 10's. You're sure to stumble upon some fine people from Bend here.
