Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon are harder than the national norm, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. If you're coming from Bend it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nature scenery of Oregon and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here.
And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There are many good hotels to choose from, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Tumalo State Park to Cline Falls State Park section is
just one of them. This section of Deschutes River is 14.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III section. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people.

gets the most snow; the driest month of the year is July. For the period of the days of summer at Deschutes River highs are ordinarily in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 40's. Throughout the winter the highs are typically in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Deschutes River.
