Sherar's Falls to Columbia River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III 44 miles
If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from City of The Dalles, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The beautiful scenery of Oregon and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling
places. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so better bring your camping gear along. This stretch of Deschutes River in Oregon is 44 miles long and has been
determined by American Whitewater to be a class III section. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
