Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The beautiful scenery of Wasco County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no     problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. A stretch of this length does require some preparations, so better bring your camping gear along. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Briefly about the general area: Not much rainfall falls here at Deschutes River; the wettest month of the year is usually December,   that's the one that rains the most while July is generally the driest month. During the months of summer, highs commonly are in the 80's at Deschutes River, and the night is quite cooler of course, mostly in the 50's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Deschutes River are in the 20's.
