You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river
if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an
afternoon trip. The river winds through the Coast Ranges and you get great scenery. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you won't find a large number of other spots. This is the only paddling stretch along Elk River. The scenic beauty of Curry County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. The campgrounds here at Elk River are pretty good.
