Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon are harder than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The Central Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The     wonderful Oregon scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Elkhorn Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the to confluence with Little North Santiam stretch is the only one. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the warm days of summer at Elkhorn Creek highs are ordinarily in the 70's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 40's. Daytime   highs through the winter are in the 40's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Elkhorn Creek sink into the 30's. A short trip to Silver King Falls is always worthwhile, and Henline Falls is an inspiring place to stop by while here. Having a great time in the Central Cascade Range is easy. The high level of precipitation makes Elkhorn Creek a reasonably wet place; the wettest month of the year is generally December, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is July.
