The Portland Creek to Fall Creek Reservoir section of Fall Creek is 8 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Oregon and the water flowing gracefully down Fall Creek have people coming here. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. When you're paddling down a Central Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along
the way too. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Portland Creek to Fall Creek Reservoir section is one of them. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in
Oregon are often more challenging than in other states, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
Briefly about the general area: Summer brings highs in the 80's to Fall Creek while nighttime lows are typically in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Fall Creek.
Fall Creek is right by the Johnny Creek Nature Trail, and hiking along the Cowhorn Trail is nice fun. Fall Creek usually gets lots of precipitation; during the month of November you get the most rain around here; July is when it's the driest. You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining stuff in the Central Cascade Range.
