county,
Tony Vey Meadow to Red Bridge State Park section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-IV 17 miles
This section of Grande Ronde River in Union County is 17 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. The starting location is a short drive from La Grande, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The average Oregon whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so better not forget that rivers here are less forgiving. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Getting
your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The natural beauty of Union County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are so many sections to
paddle in this river system, the Tony Vey Meadow to Red Bridge State Park section is just one of many. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The wild scenery of the Blue Mountains is great. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling places.
