The Red Bridge State Park to Hilgard Junction State Park stretch of Grande Ronde River in Union County is 8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Union County and the water flowing gracefully down Grande Ronde River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. No matter if you're whitewater rafting
or kayaking there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The river winds through the Blue Mountains and you get great
scenery. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Red Bridge State Park to Hilgard Junction State Park stretch is just one of them.
